I am always hesitant to read thrillers because I am a ~wimp~ so even though I had heard about this one from Reese’s Book Club and it sounded intriguing, I decided I should probably not do that to myself. But the audiobook was on Scribd and I made an impulsive decision to listen to it. It was a very tame thriller and I finished the whole thing in one day. It was made into a tv series starring Jennifer Garner that comes out next month! Keep reading for my review of The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave.
Synopsis
Hannah is happily living with her new husband Owen and Owen’s teenage daughter Bailey. Hannah is continuously working on building a relationship with her step-daughter. One day, Hannah and Bailey’s worlds are flipped upside down. Hannah receives a note in the middle of the day with Owen’s handwriting, and it says 2 words: Protect her. Hannah discovers that her husband is missing and untraceable. Hannah and Bailey must work together to try to piece together pieces of Owen’s past in order to find him again.
Thoughts
This is a mystery without any gore, so I’m a fan. I liked Hannah and I liked the development of Hannah and Bailey’s relationship. It was good and I didn’t find it to be predictable. The ending wasn’t what I thought it would be, but it felt like it left room for a sequel. I’m really excited to watch the series!
