Best Journals for 2023

Prompted Journals

1. This 5 minute gratitude journal is paperback, and it’s set up to be a 90 day journal. Each day is prompted with the same questions, and at the end of each month there is a page to reflect on the past month and set goals for what you want to change in the next month. There’s a quote on every page as well. I used this one and I really loved it. I felt like it helped me focus on the good in my day. It’s definitely worth a try in my opinion because it’s only $5 on Amazon. You can find the 5 minute gratitude journal here.

2. The next one is the Promptly Christmas Memories Journal. I am a big fan of Promptly Journals. They have so many options for journals, and they are all so beautiful and high quality. I have their Childhood History journals for all of my kids. I have had my eye on this one for awhile, because it’s unique and I think it’s a great way to document the highlights of Christmas every year. They also have a similar journal for Birthday memories! It’s a very low maintenance journal — you use it once a year at Christmas time. It would be so fun to look back on 10+ years down the road. Check out the Christmas memories journal here.

3. Papier makes simple, beautiful journals and notebooks. Every time I look at their products I have to convince myself that I don’t need all of them. This prompted travel journal would be a really fun way to document travel memories. Many people opt for a blank notebook or bullet journal for travel purposes because it leaves a lot of room for creativity to add in photos and other momentos. But if you’re looking for something prompted, this is a great one. You can see this travel journal here.

4. This couples journal has been on my list for awhile because I have heard so many good things about it. It’s a 1 year journal, with 3 questions each, once a week. It really wouldn’t take very much time to use, and I’ve been told it’s a great way to open up conversations and connect on a deeper level. The journal also contains connection tips and relationship quotes. Read more about the Loom couples journal here.

5. Another Papier journal, of course. This one is a wellness journal. It’s a journal that helps you reflect on goals, habits, and health. I’d say this one is similar to the Amazon 5 minute gratitude journal, but this one is hardback and higher quality. The wellness journal can be found here.

6. Most people would probably benefit from keeping a self-love journal. The intention of this journal is to help you develop a greater sense of self, identify what matters to you, and help you love yourself more. This would be a great journal for teens or adults. Definitely one of the best journals for 2023. Find the self-love journal here.

7. I have had this 5 year Q&A journal for the past few years. It only takes a few minutes each day, and it’s easy to catch up on if you miss a few days. It contains 1 really short question for each day of the year. You answer the same question on each day over the 5 years, and then you can look back and see how your answers have changed over time. Check out the 5 year Q&A journal here.

Blank Journals

1. Bullet journaling deserves a post of it’s own, but I’ll give a brief explanation for anyone who is unfamiliar with it. Bullet journals contain dotted pages — and that’s it. You have full creative freedom to write, draw, insert photos, use stickers, etc. Bullet journals can be used for so many different purposes — if you search “bullet journal ideas” on Pinterest you’ll see tons of creative options. I’ve used it to track books I’ve read, track habits, write out goals, and more. If you need a creative outlet, I highly recommend bullet journaling! This is the one I have — the paper quality is great, which is really important with a bullet journal because often times you’ll want to use markers or sharpies. This paper doesn’t bleed through. It’s also under $15! The Lemome bullet journal can be found here.

2. If you want a larger journal, this is a good option. It’s a blank journal and it comes in different colors and designs. It’s hardback and book bound. The dimensions are 10.25 x 8.25, and it has 144 pages. They also give you the option to emboss text on the front cover.

3. Here’s a great option for a simple, solid colored, hardback blank journal. Just use it to write! It’s lined and it comes in lots of color options. This blank journal is linked here.
